The Best Anime of 2025 so far

2025 has been a great year for anime as it continues to grow its audience across the world. This year hasn’t been anything short of spectacular with new shows and seasons that have been released. Here’s a list of the best shows of the year so far:

Brand New Shows

Clevatess

ree

A new anime that has already made waves. Clevatess is a story about one of the four Lord of Dark Beasts, Clevatess. Clevatess goes on to slaughter the 13 heroes that tried to attack him and then the king of Hyden afterwards. When he’s finished with the king, he vows to destroy the humanoid race but notices a humanoid baby that is still alive in the castle he just destroyed. He takes the baby with him and revives Alicia, one of the 13 heroes, to help him take care of the baby he named Luna. Clevatess, now disguised as Klen, embarks on a journey to see if humanoids deserve to live or not.

So far, it’s a good story that has great action and humor to go along with it.

Gachiakuta

ree

This could go down as one of the best of all time. It has that much hype, and so far, it’s been living up to it. The story centers around a boy named Rudo who is accused of the murder of his father and is thrown into the pit. As he’s falling in the pit, he swears to come back up to the surface someday and get revenge on those who falsely accused him. He lands in a junkyard where he encounters trash beasts and starts to discover a power of turning objects into vital instruments. He meets a man named Enjin who is part of a team called the Cleaners. Rudo joins them to learn more about how to control his power and how to get out of the pit. This show has been everything it’s hyped up to be and more. With each passing episode, it looks to be on pace to be an all-timer.

The Beginning After the End

ree

This is a good story about King Grey, who died but has been reincarnated as Arthur Leywin. Now as Arthur, he is a newborn baby but still has all the knowledge he had when he was King Grey. With these memories, he learns to master magic as he ages and what it’s like to have more human empathy towards others. It’s a fun story that has action to go along with an adventurous story. There are just 12 episodes in the season, but it’s been confirmed to have a second season on the way.

The Water Magician

ree

After having a crucial death, Ryo is now reincarnated in another world. In this world, he is given eternal youth along with the powers of a water magician. Ryo begins to train in this new world for 20 years, making him one of the most powerful magicians in existence. He then meets a man named Abel that notices Ryo’s unbelievable power, thus throwing him into the spotlight of the magical society. The story is a nice, good-feel one that has action but more of an adventurous feeling. I recommend this if you like magic and world building.

Tougen Anki

ree

The battle between Oni and Momotaro has been ongoing for generations. Shiki Ichinose is your average high school dropout, but his life begins to change after witnessing his father killed by a mysterious man claiming to be a Momotaro. In this moment, Shiki discovers he is of Oni blood, and his powers awaken. Now seeking revenge against his father’s killer, he enters Rakshasa Academy to learn how to control his new powers and survive this ongoing war. The story is a pretty solid one so far and has nice animation to go along with it. I believe it’s going to go down as one of the best of the year.

New Saga

ree

Kyle, a magic swordsman, defeats the demon king but is on the brink of death. As he’s about to die, he sees a magic crystal that sends him four years back in time to his hometown that was once destroyed and the loved ones he lost in the process. He now has the determination to prevent the destruction of his home and the loss of his loved ones with the information he knows from the future. As the story goes on, he finds it’s not going to be as easy as he thought it would be to rewrite the past. This is a pretty cool fantasy story that I believe fans would like if given a chance.

New Seasons

Dr. Stone - Season 4

ree

In their final battle, the kingdom of science led by Senku travels to North America to find the origin of petrification waves and encounters another brilliant scientist, Xeno. Senku and his team are on an ongoing pursuit to build a rocket in order to reach the moon. During this chase, they face the challenge of trying to outsmart Xeno and Stanley, the leader of Xeno’s army. As the show is coming to an end in this final season, it has been nothing short of exhilarating.

Kaiju No. 8 - Season 2

ree

The amazing show continues! Kaiju No. 8 is back better than ever. This season doesn’t waste any time incorporating fight scenes, humor, and emotional moments. The story continues with Kafka Hibino becoming an official weapon of the Japan Defense Force. Using his Kaiju power, the defense force sets out to destroy any Kaiju that appears to be a threat to Japan. As the story progresses, they soon discover that there’s no bigger threat than Kaiju No. 9! Kafka, along with the Defense Force, must find a way to stop this Kaiju before he becomes a threat to not just Japan but to the whole world! If you haven’t seen Kaiju No. 8, I strongly suggest you watch it because you won’t be left disappointed.

One Piece - Egghead Island

ree

You can’t make an anime of the year so far list without mentioning One Piece. The long-ongoing series continues as the Straw Hats battle all the dangers of being on Egghead. Luffy is battling against one of the five elders and Kizaru. Zoro is fighting against Lucci, while the other crew members are finding each other, figuring out a way to get off the island. The arc has great animation and fight scenes so far while answering long-awaited questions related to the Void Century. One Piece fans are in for a treat in this arc.

Solo Leveling - Season 2

ree

The anime of the year returns! Solo Leveling has taken the anime world by storm, and season 2 lives up to the hype. Jin Woo is back, getting stronger, and leveling up to improve his army of shadows. Solo Leveling’s new season is full of action to go along with stellar animation. The fight between Jin Woo and Beru may go down as the best of this year when the year is finished. The show grabs your attention from episode one, and the new season doesn’t fall short of that. If you haven’t yet, go watch this anime because you will find it very entertaining and you’ll catch yourself saying “Arise”.
